"d&b audiotechnik V-Series elevates Monroe Nightclub to a state of 'collective excitement,' enhanced by advanced sound technology."
Monroe, a popular nightclub in San Francisco, has recently unveiled a state-of-the-art sound system, centred around d&b audiotechnik V-Series and xS-Series loudspeakers, complemented by XSLi-GSUB subwoofers. This meticulously designed setup aims to deliver an "ultimate auditory experience" and a "somatic, full-body experience" for guests, as emphasised by the club's owner, Payam Arvin.
The installation includes multiple zones with different speaker types tailored to specific areas of the venue. The main dance floor and surrounding areas are covered by V-Series and xS-Series loudspeakers, providing high-quality, immersive sound. Bar areas on both the mezzanine and ground floors use 10S-D loudspeakers for clear audio coverage. The patio area has dedicated coverage with two xS-Series 10S loudspeakers.
A notable feature is a custom subwoofer tower situated in a 13-foot-wide passage between the front bar and the dance floor. This unique installation houses the XSLi-GSUB subwoofers, delivering powerful bass while minimizing spill. Some subwoofers are even integrated directly into custom furniture, enhancing the physical experience of the sound.
The system allows advanced zoning and volume control, enabling staff to finely tune audio levels for different parts of the venue, adapting to private events or general use. The main dance floor is powered by V-Series V10P loudspeakers, with additional speakers for raised bottle service tables, VIP platforms, bar areas, and the patio.
For the bottle service and VIP platforms, the system includes xS-Series 10S, 10S-D, and 18S Subwoofers. The front bar area at Monroe features several E-Series EX15-SUB subwoofers, one disguised as a vent, another under a drink rail, and a third flown in a dark corner.
The system is powered by 1 x 40D, 2 x 10D, and 3 x 5D amplifiers. The bar areas have 6 x xS-Series 10S-D and 3 x E-Series EX15-SUB subwoofers. The collaboration for this project was a joint effort between Michael Lacina of JK Sound and Don Lynch of Commercial Audio Video Solutions (CAVS).
d&b audiotechnik, headquartered in Backnang, near Stuttgart, Germany, is an internationally recognised company for sound reinforcement systems in installed and mobile applications. The new sound system at Monroe is set to create a feeling of "collective effervescence" through shared energy and connection, as envisioned by Arvin.
