Cohere Appoints Joelle Pineau as Chief AI Officer, Bolsters Leadership Team
Cohere, a Toronto-based AI company, has appointed Joelle Pineau as its new Chief AI Officer. Pineau, previously leading Meta's fundamental AI research team, will oversee research and product development at Cohere. The company, which provides agentic AI tools for businesses, also recently launched its security-first AI platform, North, and has secured strategic partnerships with major companies.
Pineau brings extensive experience to Cohere, having previously led Meta's fundamental AI research team. She will now focus on advancing research and product development at Cohere, which equips enterprise organizations with AI tools for task simplification and efficiency. The company's customer base spans various sectors, including finance, healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, and energy.
Cohere has also strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of François Chadwick as Chief Financial Officer. Chadwick, who previously served as acting CFO at Uber and held a leadership role at Shield AI, joined Cohere at the end of 2025. He will oversee finance and business operations at the company.
Cohere has secured significant funding, raising $500 million at a $6.8 billion valuation. The company recently launched its security-first agentic AI platform, North, and has established strategic partnerships with prominent companies such as Oracle, Dell, and RBC.
With the appointment of Joelle Pineau as Chief AI Officer and François Chadwick as Chief Financial Officer, Cohere continues to bolster its leadership team.
