China Model Y Facelift Approval Submitted by Tesla
**Tesla Unveils Facelifted Model Y with Enhanced Variants and Extended Warranty**
Tesla has announced the launch of the facelifted Model Y, offering customers two new variants: a rear-wheel-drive version and a long-range all-wheel-drive version. The new models are expected to begin deliveries in March, pending regulatory approval.
The rear-wheel-drive version of the facelifted Model Y is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 62.5 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 593 kilometers. This entry-level variant is priced at RMB 263,500, an increase of RMB 13,600 or 5.44 percent over its predecessor.
On the other hand, the long-range all-wheel-drive version comes with a 78.4 kWh battery pack and boasts a CLTC range of 719 kilometers, making it the longest-range Model Y in history. This top-tier model is priced at RMB 303,500, an increase of RMB 12,600 or 4.33 percent compared to the previous version.
To sweeten the deal, customers who order the model before the deadline on February 28 can enjoy an additional two years or 40,000 kilometers of extended warranty.
The facelifted Model Y has three pages in the filing catalog: TSL6480BEVAR5, TSL6480BEVAR6, and TSL6480BEVBA7. The TSL6480BEVAR5 and TSL6480BEVAR6 are single-motor models powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL). The TSL6480BEVBA7 is a dual-motor model with a front motor of 137 kW and a rear motor of 194 kW, powered by lithium ternary batteries supplied by LG Energy Solution.
The single-motor version of the facelifted Model Y is optimized for cost and longevity, using Tesla's own LFP battery cells with around 60 kWh capacity. This version is well-suited for daily urban driving, offering a range of about 280-283 miles (EPA and WLTP estimates vary slightly) and a 0-60 mph time around 5.7 seconds.
In contrast, the dual-motor versions employ higher-capacity NMC batteries (~75 kWh) sourced from multiple suppliers, delivering greater range and performance. These models offer up to 373 miles in some trims (WLTP), with EPA ranges around 311–337 miles depending on variant. They also boast higher top speeds, quicker acceleration, and additional driving modes such as Track mode.
The public can submit feedback on the facelifted Model Y between January 11-17. For more information, visit Tesla's official website.
