Chery's Jaecoo J5 EV Lands in Australia Q1 2026

Chinese automaker Chery has introduced its second electric vehicle, the Jaecoo J5 EV, to the Australian market. The SUV, set to launch in the first quarter of 2026, is reminiscent of popular Land Rover models and is expected to be a hit with local buyers.

The Jaecoo J5 EV, measuring approximately 4.4 metres in length, will come equipped with 18-inch wheels and a 155 kW front-mounted motor, the larger of the two available internationally. It boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 750 kg and a running clearance of 180 mm, ensuring versatility for various terrains.

Powered by a 60.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, the J5 EV promises a range of 400 km on the WLTP cycle. Despite its robust features, it maintains a tare weight of 1,710 kg, making it one of the lighter electric SUVs in its class.

More details and pricing for the Jaecoo J5 EV will be revealed closer to its launch. The J5 EV's stylish design, impressive performance, and competitive weight make it an exciting addition to the Australian EV market, following the successful launch of the Jaecoo brand in May 2025.
