Campus-wide production efforts at University of Texas significantly expanded through implementation of adaptable, university-wide system.

The University of Texas (UT) has deployed a comprehensive Riedel Communications solution to streamline operations and enhance its sports production capabilities, particularly in large venues like the Moody Center arena and the football stadium.

The installation, completed by SCN Top 50 systems integrator Diversified, includes Riedel's Artist digital matrix intercom, Bolero wireless intercom, and Simplylive Production Suite. UT's head broadcast engineer, Matt Alvarado, stated that the Riedel systems provide scalability and interconnectivity, which was crucial for their needs.

UT's previous communication system struggled to provide adequate coverage in large venues. However, with the implementation of Riedel's solutions, UT staff and students can now move between venues while maintaining connectivity, enabling efficient operations for multiple sports productions. The Bolero system was extended to UT's football stadium, creating an integrated communication network across its athletics facilities.

The Bolero and Artist systems immediately offered seamless, clear communication throughout the Moody Center arena. The Simplylive Production Suite, known for its user-friendliness, has been a valuable addition. It offers integrated production tools to streamline live sports production workflows, facilitating multi-camera production and live control. The efficiency of the Simplylive Production Suite was critical for UT, as it does not require a traditional control room and enables professional-grade productions with minimal operators.

UT students are making full use of the Simplylive Production Suite's resources. The suite's multiple camera angles and instant replay capabilities have been described as super professional. The clarity and ease of use of the Riedel systems have been gamechangers, especially when working with student crews, according to Matt Alvarado.

The University of Texas is transitioning to the Southeastern Conference (SEC). As it works to elevate its production standards for professional-grade sports coverage, the Riedel Communications solution is proving to be an invaluable asset. While Riedel’s technologies are industry-standard and contribute significantly to sports production enhancements generally, there is no publicly available detailed case or experience report about their implementation or impact at the University of Texas in the current search data.
