BYD introduces the Seagull compact hatchback in El Salvador
BYD Expands Electric Vehicle Offerings in El Salvador with the Launch of Dolphin Mini
In a significant move for the electric vehicle market in El Salvador, Chinese automaker BYD has entered the passenger vehicle market in the country. The company, which trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKG: 1211) and the OTC Markets (BYDDY), has partnered with Energy Motors to launch the compact electric hatchback model known as the Dolphin Mini (formerly the Seagull) in El Salvador.
The Dolphin Mini, now available for purchase in the country, is priced at $22,400[1]. The Seagull, prior to its rebranding, was not mentioned in the previous bullet points regarding BYD's Jul NEV sales.
The renaming of the Seagull to Dolphin Mini might be due to marketing, cultural, or trademark reasons, as it is common for car manufacturers to alter model names in different markets.
The Dolphin Mini is a compact electric hatchback with a range of up to 380 kilometers. It joins five other BYD models currently available in El Salvador, including the electric SUV models such as the BYD Shark and Yuan Pro, and the electric sedan models like the Song Plus and Song Pro.
The launch of the Dolphin Mini marks a significant step forward for the electric vehicle market in El Salvador, providing consumers with more affordable and sustainable transport options. The event was announced in a statement on Friday.
