Boris FX Amplifies Machine Learning Functionality within Continuum's Visual Effects Arsenal

Boris FX has unveiled the latest iteration of its popular plugin collection, Continuum 2025. This release brings a host of innovative features, with a focus on AI-driven enhancements that aim to streamline video editing workflows.

New AI-Powered Effects

Continuum 2025 introduces two new ML (Machine Learning) effects: BCC+ Motion Blur ML and BCC+ License Plate ML.

The BCC+ Motion Blur ML effect uses machine learning to generate realistic motion blur on moving objects or the entire frame. By leveraging AI models to track motion accurately and apply smooth blur, it enhances visual fluidity in footage, eliminating the need for manual frame-by-frame adjustments.

On the other hand, BCC+ License Plate ML automatically scans a scene for vehicles and obscures alphanumeric identifiers, making it an ideal tool for censorship or privacy purposes.

Other Enhancements

In addition to the new ML effects, Continuum 2025 offers several other improvements. The custom FX Editor has been updated to boost performance and enhance workflows. A new image caching system in the custom FX Editor delivers faster playback of filtered results.

The Transitions category has been expanded with four new drag-and-drop options: BCC+ Smoke & Fog, BCC+ Smoke Wipe, BCC+ Atmospheric Glow Dissolve, and BCC+ Orbs Dissolve.

The Key & Blend category includes updated GPU-accelerated effects for easy green screen footage keying and garbage masking. The Film Style category adds BCC+Grain, which allows users to apply photorealistic soft or hard film grain to video.

Host Application Support

Continuum 2025 supports a wide range of host applications, including Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, and VEGAS Pro. Notably, it now fully supports the Fusion page in DaVinci Resolve.

Pricing and Availability

Continuum 2025 is available with subscription pricing starting at $195/year. Users can choose from monthly/annual subscriptions, upgrade & support plans, and permanent licenses. Pricing information can be found on the official Boris FX website.

In summary, Continuum 2025 is a significant leap forward in video editing technology, bringing AI/ML automation to traditionally manual video editing challenges. With its new effects and enhancements, it promises to make video editing faster, more efficient, and more accurate.

Leveraging data-and-cloud-computing, Boris FX's Continuum 2025 integrates advanced technological tools such as post-production tools and artificial-intelligence in its suite of plugins, aiming to improve workflows and automate traditionally manual video editing tasks. The AI-driven effects BCC+ Motion Blur ML and BCC+ License Plate ML, for example, utilize machine learning to enhance visual fluidity and facilitate censorship or privacy purposes, respectively.
