BMW unveils the 2026 iX3 in Space Silver and Ocean Wave Blue at Munich event
The BMW iX3 50 xDrive, the first Neue Klasse production model, is set to revolutionise the electric vehicle market. Production of this innovative vehicle began in November 2021 at BMW's new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, specifically designed for Neue Klasse vehicles.
Under the hood, or rather under the sleek exterior, the iX3 is powered by the sixth generation of BMW's eDrive system, paired with dual motors producing around 463 horsepower and 645 Newton-meters of torque. This powerhouse enables the iX3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its class.
The iX3's impressive performance is matched by its range. Under the WLTP cycle, the iX3 boasts a range of up to 805 kilometers, ensuring long-distance journeys are a breeze. For the U.S. market, EPA figures suggest a range of around 400 miles, providing ample distance for American road trips.
The iX3 will be available in a variety of finishes. At its launch, the iX3 will be offered in Space Silver and Ocean Wave Blue. Fire Red, known as Vegas Red in the U.S., will be available in the spring of 2026. Additionally, there will be options for Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Polarized Grey, and M Brooklyn Grey. Future colour options include a Special Edition in unique grey-blue with a distinctive gold logo, Premium versions in red and blue, and a Standard version in plain white.
China will receive a long-wheelbase variant of the iX3, codenamed NA6, which will be built locally to reflect its global ambitions. The U.S. market will receive the iX3 in the summer of 2026. Deliveries in Europe will start in the spring of 2026.
The iX3 showcases BMW's Neue Klasse design language, featuring retractable door handles, smoother surfacing, and an illuminated kidney grille. For those seeking a more aggressive look, the iX3 can be ordered with the optional M Sport Package, which includes a more aggressive diffuser.
The iX3's charging system supports up to 400 kW of input, allowing for a battery replenishment from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 21 minutes. This rapid charging capability makes the iX3 an ideal choice for those who need to recharge quickly on the go.
The 2026 BMW iX3 50 xDrive was showcased at Max-Joseph Platz, home to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, further emphasising BMW's commitment to innovation and design excellence. The iX3 is not just a vehicle; it's a statement of BMW's future in the electric vehicle market.
