BMW Recalls 2026 Models Over Electrical Fire Risk

BMW has initiated a voluntary safety recall for four of its 2026 models due to a potential electrical issue. The affected vehicles include three M4 models and one 430i. The German automaker will notify owners by mail starting November 17, 2025, to arrange for a free repair.

The recall stems from a problem identified on August 7, 2025, when a 2026 M4 Competition Convertible stalled during a test drive at a BMW assembly plant. Investigations revealed a potential issue with the connection between the positive battery cables and the power distribution box. This connection may be 'out of specification', which could cause it to loosen over time, leading to engine stalling or even a fire risk.

BMW has confirmed that all four affected vehicles are likely to experience this defect. The repair process involves inspecting the connection and replacing both parts if any fault is found, free of charge. It's important to note that there are no records of any works at the BMW plant between August 2025 and September 2025 that could have caused this issue.
