Belarus Streamlines Public Transport: Fares Cut, Cashless Revolution
Belarus is streamlining its public transport payment system. Minsktrans has cut fares for suburban buses No323 and 429, while a cashless revolution is underway across the country.
From October 1, suburban buses No323 and 429 will charge 11 cents per kilometer. This reduction comes from Minsktrans, though the exact date of implementation remains unclear.
Passengers using multi-use tickets for these routes can now travel for free on high-speed and express routes. Meanwhile, a unified cashless payment system is being introduced nationwide. All Belarusbank cards and Belkart payment system cards from resident banks are accepted.
In Minsk, the No1 trolleybus route is trialing software for buying tickets using bank cards and the 'Belkart Pay' app. The cost of cashless transactions is equal to the ticket price, currently set at 90 cents. The fare from Atolino to 'Slytski Gastinets' metro station is Br1.28.
Belarus is moving towards a more convenient and affordable public transport system. With reduced fares on suburban buses and the rollout of a unified cashless payment system, passengers can expect smoother journeys ahead.
