Alford Media Amps Up with Ayrton Rivale Fixtures
Alford Media has equipped itself with a fleet of Ayrton Rivale fixtures, primarily distributed in North America by ACT Entertainment. One landmark event for the Rivale has been the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing 2024 at Philly's Convention Center, where the fixtures served as the AV backbone for keynotes and panels. Kurt Wunsch, Alford's senior lighting designer, managed a rig of 747 fixtures. He designed a subtle yet striking setup, focusing on creative color palettes and ambiance, rather than flashy movement.
The Rivale fixtures were strategically positioned to light trusses over the 500-foot stage, highlighting gobos on drapes flanking the LED videowall backdrop. Incorporating topographical map-style visuals, graphics on the LED videowall, and a self-illuminated step unit, the Rivale's versatility shone through, acting as a powerful design tool for this event. Zoom ratio came in handy for Alford, as they had to throw light from varying distances.
Wunsch was no stranger to Ayrton rentals before integrating Rivale fixtures into their inventory. After trying them out, he instantly requested the fixtures for multiple events, including one with lots of dance numbers calling for the Rivale's color and movement. Ryan Hindinger, ACT Entertainment's market manager-lighting, expressed excitement as Alford, known for its selective gear decisions, embraced the Rivale.
