Autonomous vehicle manufacturer Nio Onvo plans to release more than 10,000 of its L90 models in August, according to a recent report.
The Onvo L90, the latest addition to the Onvo brand and Nio Inc's flagship SUV model, has made a promising start in its first month of deliveries. Officially launched on July 31, 20XX, the L90 began deliveries on August 1.
In the first 72 hours alone, the L90 delivered 1,976 units, indicating a strong demand for the electric vehicle. If this pace continues, the L90 could become Nio's highest-selling model in a single month.
However, as of early August, the L90 had not yet surpassed 10,000 units in deliveries for August 2023. It delivered 4,069 units from August 1 to 10, and if this pace continues, it is expected to exceed 10,000 units for the entire month. This would potentially break Nio Inc's previous single-model monthly delivery record of 11,118 units set by the ES6 in July 2023.
The ES6, another model under Nio Inc, currently holds the record for the highest monthly delivery of a Nio Inc model. The L60, another model under Nio Inc, delivered 10,528 units in December 2024, making it the only other Nio model besides the ES6 to surpass the 10,000 monthly delivery mark.
Onvo President Shen Fei has set a target for the L90 to deliver over 10,000 units in August. He expressed his satisfaction with the L90's performance but also shared that it overshadowed the appeal of the L60.
Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li mentioned that orders for the L90 exceeded expectations at a media briefing held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on August 1. In response to the strong demand, Shen Fei shared a video on Weibo showing Nio's factory working around the clock to ship L90 vehicles.
The competitive price of the Onvo L90, with a starting price of RMB 265,800 ($36,860) including the battery pack, is considered key to its strong initial acceptance. As the L90 continues to deliver and potentially break Nio Inc's single-month delivery record, it underscores the growing popularity of electric vehicles and Nio Inc's position as a leader in the industry.
