Audinate and Lawo partner for native Dante compatibility within HOME apps
In a strategic move to enhance interoperability and functionality, Lawo and Audinate have joined forces to integrate Dante audio and video technologies into Lawo's HOME Apps. This collaboration aims to provide native Dante compatibility, offering users a seamless and efficient management experience for networked audio and video systems.
## Overview of the Integration
The integration focuses on incorporating Dante AV-over-IP solutions into Lawo's HOME Apps, designed to offer centralized control and orchestration for audio and video systems. This move ensures seamless communication between Dante devices and HOME Apps, facilitating efficient management and operation of networked audio and video systems.
## Benefits of the Integration
The integration offers several advantages, including enhanced control and management, scalability, and flexibility. It provides users with a comprehensive platform to manage and control networked devices, featuring automatic device discovery, real-time diagnostics, and intuitive stream routing, all accessible from a centralized interface.
The combination of Dante's AV-over-IP solutions and Lawo's HOME Apps offers scalability and flexibility, making it suitable for various applications, from live broadcasting to installed AV systems. This integration supports future-proof workflows by accommodating emerging standards and technologies.
## Applications and Use Cases
This integration is particularly beneficial for applications in the broadcast and AV industries, where networked audio and video systems are crucial for efficient operations. It supports both live productions and installed systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and control across different environments.
## Key Features
New Dante Importer (southbound) and Dante Exporter (northbound) services will be introduced into and out of HOME, allowing the coexistence of Dante and RAVENNA protocols on a microservice-based application level. The collaboration will also provide native discovery and management mechanisms for Dante devices and software within Lawo's HOME management platform.
The integration will enable the mixing of a diverse pool of audio sources, including Dante, SMPTE ST2110, NDI, SRT, and RAVENNA, with Lawo's HOME mc2 DSP app. The integration will be controlled from an mc2 audio or crystal broadcast console, or a headless mixer setup.
Moreover, the integration will extend to HOME Apps and include Dante AV video signals. Already available for audio hardware by means of Dante cards installed in a Lawo Power Core modular I/O and DSP gateway, the integration will now be extended to HOME Apps.
Jamie Dunn, Lawo's Deputy CEO, stated that providing Dante integration on a server-based microservice level will yield creative benefits for operators. This integration is considered an important milestone for Lawo's open, unified HOME platform, underscoring the importance of the Dante network protocol in the studio, install, and live-sound sectors.
In summary, the Lawo HOME Apps integration with Dante technologies enhances system management, scalability, and user experience, making it a powerful tool for modern audio and video workflows. The collaboration between Lawo and Audinate is set to redefine the future of networked audio and video systems in the broadcast and AV industries.
This integration of Dante AV-over-IP solutions into Lawo's HOME Apps will provide native discovery and management mechanisms for Dante devices and software within Lawo's HOME management platform, thereby featuring as one of its key features. Furthermore, the combination of Dante's technology and Lawo's data-and-cloud-computing based HOME Apps will offer users a streamlined management experience for networked audio and video systems, leveraging the benefits of features like automatic device discovery, real-time diagnostics, and intuitive stream routing.
