Audi Boosts Plug-In Hybrids with New 'Charge Mode' and Longer EV Range
Audi has rolled out a series of updates for its plug-in hybrid models, headlined by a new 'Charge Mode' and improved battery capacities. The German automaker also introduced a new A6 Avant 50 TFSI e quattro model for business users.
The new 'Charge Mode' allows Audi's plug-in hybrids to use their internal combustion engine (ICE) to charge the news, expanding the car's range. This feature is an addition to the existing EV, Auto, and Hold options.
The new A6 Avant 50 TFSI e quattro is a plug-in hybrid model designed for business users. It combines a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and an electric motor, delivering a total output of 295bhp. This model is expected to provide a good balance between performance and efficiency.
Audi has also improved the electric vehicle (EV) range of its plug-in hybrids. The new battery pack can now provide up to 45 miles of electric-only driving, thanks to a 20% increase in energy density. This upgrade applies to the Audi Q5 TFSI e, Audi Q5 Sportback TFSI e, Audi A6 Saloon, Audi A6 Avant, and Audi A7 Sportback models.
Audi's latest updates demonstrate the brand's commitment to improving the performance and efficiency of its plug-in hybrid models. The new 'Charge Mode' and enhanced battery capacities are expected to make these vehicles more appealing to eco-conscious drivers and businesses alike.
