AI in Germany: A Chance, Not a Threat to Jobs
AI presents a valuable opportunity, not a threat to job elimination, according to Bitkom and SAP. - Artificial Intelligence presents an opportunity, not a job eliminator, According to Bitkom and SAP.
According to Bitkom's CEO, Bernhard Rohleder, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) won't spell doom for employment in Germany. While the overall labor demand might decrease, he told the Funke media group that it's no reason to panic. "AI won't bring negative impacts on the job market in the foreseeable future for Germany," Rohleder stated.
Rohleder explained that demanding tasks currently performed by humans will become obsolete, such as technical translations and simple administrative tasks like taking minutes, drafting protocols, or standard correspondence. But fear not, he added, as AI will boost the competitiveness of businesses and keep administrations and public services humming along. This positive impact differs significantly in countries with a high influx of young workers entering the job market.
"Goodbye boring routines!" was the cheer from SAP's CEO, Christian Klein. SAP views AI as a chance, not a challenge. Their focus lies in upskilling employees and creating new, value-driving roles. SAP has increased their developers' productivity by 30% thanks to AI. Klein highlighted that mundane routines will be things of the past, making time for imaginative thinking and real worth-creating tasks.
Klein's words addressed recent warnings from US AI company Anthropic, whose CEO Dario Amodei spoke of widespread unemployment and job destruction in the United States due to AI.
