A recent survey conducted by Bitkom, Germany's digital association, reveals that one-third of Germans can't remember their mobile number, compared to the telephone numbers of friends, family, or acquaintances which are more frequently committed to memory. In fact, 82 percent of Germans can remember at least one of these numbers off by heart, with the oldest age group, 65 and above, retaining an average of four numbers, and the youngest, 16 to 29, managing just two.
The survey, which was conducted across Germany in February and March of 2025, interviewed 1,004 residents aged 16 and above by telephone.
