Anticipated Enhancements in iOS 19: My Top 5 Wishes for WWDC 2025
Upgrading iPhone's Future: iOS 19 (or 26) at WWDC 2025
Get ready for some major changes coming to your iPhone's software, as rumors swirl around the upcoming iOS 26 (or possibly iOS 19) release, set to be unveiled at WWDC 2025 on June 9.
Here are five features I'm personally hoping to see at this year's conference to ensure iOS stays fresh and exciting:
1. A Refreshing Redesign
Reports suggest that iOS 26 might bring a significant facelift, shifting away from the familiar design that has remained consistent for years. The new interface is rumored to take inspiration from both macOS and iPadOS, featuring a more intuitive and navigable design.
Some leaks point to a Vision Pro-inspired, glass-like appearance that could breathe new life into the operating system, helping it avoid feeling dated.
2. Revolutionary AI Photo Editing Tools
While Apple has begun dabbling in artificial intelligence, the current offerings, particularly the photo editing tools, leave room for improvement. I'd love to see advanced capabilities in iOS 26, including comprehensive editing features like object movement and removal, extended backgrounds, facial expression changes, and more.
Sadly, it seems that AI upgrades for iOS might be delayed, with one report suggesting that the WWDC 2025 keynote may disappoint in this regard.
3. Smarter Siri
I'm also eager to see substantial progress in Siri, Apple's virtual assistant. Ideally, I'd like Siri to become more conversational, personalized, and intelligent—much like services like ChatGPT or Gemini.
Again, leaks suggest that we might have to wait until 2026 for the long-promised AI upgrade for Siri, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an early preview at WWDC 2025.
4. Enhanced Health and Fitness
Apple has been focusing on health and fitness for quite some time now, but third-party apps and rival platforms offer more extensive features. I'd love to see this gap narrowed in iOS 26, with additions like stress tracking, energy and recovery insights, and more.
Reports suggest that Apple is working on an AI upgrade for the Health app, so some of what I'm hoping for might be in the works, even if it's not ready for the initial iOS 26 release.
5. A Gaming Push
In the past, iOS showed promise as a gaming platform, but its appeal has waned due to predatory monetization tactics and an absence of high-quality exclusives. I'd love to see Apple renew its focus on gaming and bring more top-tier titles to the platform.
While there's no concrete evidence yet, rumors suggest that a dedicated gaming hub could be introduced as part of iOS 26, featuring in-game achievements, leaderboards, and other user activities.
