ANKA Raises $6.2M, Empowering African Sellers with 250% Growth
ANKA, formerly Afrikrea, has announced impressive growth since its 2016 launch. The SaaS e-commerce platform, backed by DHL and Visa, has seen a 250% year-on-year increase, handling over $35 million in transactions across 174 countries. Now, ANKA has raised $6.2 million in a pre-Series A round, bringing its total funding to $8.1 million.
ANKA's success story is marked by empowering African sellers, with over 80% being women. These entrepreneurs have seen their revenue grow by an average of 50% since joining the platform. The recent funding round, led by Investisseurs & Partenaires and joined by Alibaba's Joe Tsai and others, will fuel ANKA's expansion. Plans include bolstering mobile infrastructure, investing in product development, and exploring new business verticals. Additionally, ANKA aims to boost its talent pool by hiring more staff for its product, sales, and finance teams, as well as remote developers. With over 700,000 monthly visits, predominantly from Europe and North America, ANKA's retailers can continue to leverage the platform's expanded services and support.
ANKA's rebranding and latest funding round signal a promising future for the platform. By investing in growth and talent, ANKA is set to further empower African sellers and expand its global reach.
