Amazon Unveils AI-Powered Devices: Kindle Scribe, Echo, Ring & TV
Amazon has unveiled its latest generation of connected devices, packed with AI functionalities. The new range includes the Kindle Scribe, Echo speaker, Ring doorbell, and a connected television. These devices aim to blend seamlessly into daily life, powered by Amazon's 'ambient AI' philosophy.
Amazon's Kindle Scribe now harnesses generative AI to summarize books or provide character insights. This follows Amazon's unveiling of Alexa+, an updated voice assistant, in February. The new Echo speaker, Ring doorbell, and connected television also boast AI enhancements.
The connected television can use AI to find specific scenes, recommendations, or game summaries based on user history. Amazon believes in 'opening up possibilities without getting in the way' in daily life, with AI living naturally within its products. Tech giants are exploring similar devices like connected glasses, earbuds, or speakers for generative AI.
Amazon aims to be the 'conductor of the connected home'. The manufacturer of the new device, OpenAI, is working with Broadcom to develop custom AI chips using 3nm technology by 2026. OpenAI has also acquired hardware startup io Products, with Apple's ex-chief designer Jony Ive involved, and is using Apple-linked suppliers like Luxshare and Goertek for production.
Amazon's latest connected devices, powered by AI, promise to enhance daily life without disruption. The Kindle Scribe's generative AI capabilities and the connected television's scene-finding feature are standout innovations. Amazon's ambition to lead the connected home market is clear, with advanced AI chips and strategic partnerships on the horizon.
