Alzey-Worms Launches Online Permit Service for Passenger Transport
Alzey-Worms has launched an online service for permit applications in the passenger transport sector. The regional administration's service portal now accepts all required documents, aiming to simplify and speed up the process. This move, led by Kathrin Köstner, was introduced on October 23, 2025.
The new service can be found under the 'Dienstleistungen - Taxen- und Mietwagenverkehr' or 'Mein Anliegen - e-Services (Online-Dienste)' categories. It targets companies operating taxis, rental cars, or buses, streamlining the process that typically took about four weeks with complete documents.
While the digital transformation is expected to make the process more transparent, experts caution that it could also lead to new challenges. One concern is the potential rise of unregulated rental car operators, as highlighted by a critic, Scholz, in the field of passenger transport.
The online permit application service for passenger transport services is now live in Alzey-Worms. It promises a faster and more transparent process for companies, but also raises concerns about potential regulatory issues that need to be addressed.
