Altenar Successfully Acquires ISO 27001:2022 Recertification for Enhanced Data Security Standards

Leading iGaming software provider, Altenar, announces successful full recertification under the revised ISO 27001:2022 standard, underscoring its unwavering dedication to information security and compliance.

The renowned international certification affirms Altenar's robust Information Security Management System (ISMS), reflecting its commitment to safeguarding client and stakeholder data in an ever-evolving digital threat landscape.

This significant achievement extends Altenar's portfolio of gaming licenses and regulatory certifications, guaranteeing its alignment with the technical standards of the jurisdictions it operates within.

The 2022 revision of the ISO 27001 standard presents new and enhanced controls, covering areas such as threat intelligence, data masking, data leak prevention, and web filtering. These controls are designed to help organizations better adapt to and manage modern cyber threats.

Altenar's recertification signifies not only its adherence to global best practices but also a significant expansion of scope. This includes new operational regions in South America and South Africa, as well as the addition of its recently established entity, Agreegain Limited.

Denise Vella, Altenar's Director of Information Security, expressed pride in the achievement. She emphasized that security is deeply ingrained in everything Altenar does, thanks to the continuous efforts of its dedicated security team. A strong security culture has been cultivated within the company, with users also highly aware of security concerns. Protecting customer data, Vella stated, is an integral part of Altenar's daily work, and this certification reinforces their commitment to security, compliance, and trust.

The revised ISO 27001:2022 standard streamlines and reorganizes controls, consolidating them into four main themes: organizational, people, physical, and technological controls. The updated standard introduces 11 new controls to address current and emerging security challenges, focusing on areas such as threat intelligence and data leakage prevention. Organizations with ISO 27001:2013 certification have until October 31, 2025, to transition to the new standard, requiring a review and update of their Statement of Applicability and risk treatment plans. Not all 93 controls need to be implemented by every organization; implementation should be risk-based and tailored to business needs.

Altenar's dedication to information security extends beyond its ISMS, as it also prioritizes the secure implementation of sports betting technologies, ensuring a safe and reliable user experience. Despite the growing cybersecurity threats in the sports industry, Altenar's commitment to the revised ISO 27001:2022 standard equips it with the necessary controls to tackle modern security challenges, such as threat intelligence and data leak prevention, while safeguarding sports-related data in the expanding technology-driven sports betting market.
