Airbus' 100th A380 Returns to Service After Nearly Three Years
After nearly three years, MSN 114, the 100th Airbus A380 built, has returned to service. Originally delivered to Malaysia Airlines in 2013, the aircraft, now registered as 2-JAYN, landed in Abu Dhabi for heavy maintenance and modifications.
MSN 114, previously known as 9M-MNF, was part of Malaysia Airlines' A380 fleet that was grounded in 2020 due to the pandemic. After the airline attempted to sell the fleet in 2021, Airbus took them back as part of a deal for A330-900neos. Following maintenance and modifications in Abu Dhabi, Airbus plans to use MSN 114 as a future flight test aircraft.
The aircraft, after turning on its transponder, was ferried to Abu Dhabi and taxied to Etihad Engineering's area. Its next destination and owner remain unknown at this time.
MSN 114, the 100th A380 produced, has resumed activity after a long hiatus. Its future role as a flight test aircraft is planned, but its next owner and destination are yet to be revealed.
