Aichi Prefecture: Japan's New Mobility Hub
Aichi Prefecture, home to automotive giant Toyota, is emerging as a hub for innovative mobility projects and startups. The region offers attractive land prices and policy support, making it an appealing alternative to Tokyo and the Kansai region.
UrbanChain, a smart parking management company, is currently piloting its solutions with Nagoya Railway, backed by Aichi Prefecture and JETRO. Meanwhile, Crystal, a specialist in in-vehicle systems, has launched an electric scooter-sharing service, 'Su_i', with support from the Aichi Prefectural Government and Toyota Financial Services.
The Aichi 2030 Declaration on Environmentally Sustainable Transport is driving the integration of air and ground transportation. The upcoming Central Shinkansen Line, scheduled to open in 2027, is expected to stimulate economic growth, potentially matching America's GDP.
Aichi Prefecture's initiatives, such as the Central Japan Startup Ecosystem Consortium and the Station Ai project, are fostering a global innovation hub. With Japan's manufacturing prowess and corporate giants, the region presents new growth avenues for overseas startups, as seen with Prodrone's collaborations with the government and international companies.
