Aerospacelab Secures €132M to Boost Satellite Production and EU Independence
Belgian satellite manufacturer Aerospacelab has secured significant funding to boost its production and technological capabilities. The company, founded in 2018, provides end-to-end satellite solutions and has recently acquired a Belgian optics specialist, AMOS, to enhance its high-precision satellite components.
In September 2025, the European Investment Bank (EIB) provided €37.5 million in venture debt financing, backed by the EU's InvestEU program. This funding will accelerate Aerospacelab's roadmap, with a primary focus on completing its 'Megafactory' in Charleroi, Belgium. Once operational, this facility aims to produce up to 500 satellites annually.
The company's growth plans are also supported by a €94 million Series B funding round, closed in August 2025. Led by a consortium including XAnge, this investment will facilitate deeper vertical integration and advancements in research and development for next-generation satellite technologies. Aerospacelab is preparing for its first hyperspectral mission, IPERLITE, ready for launch to demonstrate advanced Earth-imaging technology.
With these substantial investments, Aerospacelab is positioning itself as a key player in Europe's space sector. The company's expansion includes opening a satellite manufacturing facility in Torrance, California, to support collaborations with NASA and commercial partners. As it scales up production and bolsters Europe's space capabilities, Aerospacelab is reducing the continent's dependence on other global navigation satellite systems like GPS and Galileo.
