Advanced Laser Weapon with Capacity to Eliminate Drone Swarms Instantaneously to be Acquired by NATO Ally, Possessing 100kW Power

In an innovative leap for drone defence technology, Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) will present its 100kW laser weapon system at DSEI 2025 in London from 9-12 September. This high-energy laser system is designed to counter drone swarms, addressing the growing global security concern surrounding drone-based threats.

The system, capable of delivering up to 100 kilowatts of laser energy, can hard kill drones at distances from 50 meters to 3 kilometers, with longer-range capabilities (up to 15 km) to deny optical sensors on drones. It can handle over 20 drone kills per minute against Group 1 UAS (small drones) and can engage a target in under 1.5 seconds, ensuring rapid response to swarm threats.

The laser weapon system integrates advanced radar, infrared threat detection sensors, fast-cueing algorithms, target acquisition, and beam locking technology to maintain precision on fast-moving, multiple targets. It forms part of the EOS Titanis counter-UAS system, designed to thwart drones in Groups 1, 2, and 3.

The system's performance was showcased in live scenarios, convincing the buyer of its capability to defend against drone swarms cost-effectively. Each shot from the laser system costs less than ten cents, making it far more economical for sustained operations.

Manufacturing will take place at the company's facility in Singapore, with EOS delivering a complete mobile counter-drone capability, including production, spare parts, training, and documentation, between 2025 and 2028. The contract, worth €71.4 million, marks a major leap forward for EOS and represents the first export deal of its kind anywhere in the world.

EOS is already known globally for its counter-drone solutions that use kinetic weapons. The company has invested heavily in refining its beam control technology to maintain precision over long distances, enabling the laser system to neutralize up to 20 drones per minute with laser strikes that travel at the speed of light.

The truck-mounted laser system is designed to integrate with multi-layered air defence systems, offering a rapid-response capability that can engage threats instantly without high operational costs. This new system, the result of three years of field testing and multiple live firing trials, is poised to revolutionize drone defence technology.

The laser weapon system, an innovation by EOS, integrates science and technology, particularly advanced radar, infrared sensors, and beam control technology, to counter drone threats effectively. This system, capable of defeating up to 20 drones per minute, also leverages robotics in its multi-layered air defence system integration.
