32-inch 4K QD-OLED Dell Monitor Gaming Review: Impressive Value for Money

The Dell S3225QC monitor, as reviewed by Tom's Hardware, showcases exceptional color accuracy and performance. This 4K QD-OLED monitor delivers impressive grayscale accuracy, gamma performance, wide and saturated color gamut, and presumably high color volume, making it a visually stunning display [1].

Out of the box, the S3225QC exhibits excellent grayscale and gamma performance, both before and after calibration. However, it should be noted that there are no adjustable gamma presets available on the monitor [1].

The S3225QC's color gamut is another highlight, offering wide and saturated color reproduction. The monitor covers 105.59% of DCI-P3 in the volume test, which is typical for Quantum Dot OLEDs. The screen's color saturation is spot on due to its accurate gamma [1].

While the Standard picture mode shows minor red errors in grayscale at 90% and 100% brightness, these issues can be addressed by choosing sRGB from the gamut options in Creator mode. This results in a slightly warm grayscale and gamma that rides just above 2.2 [1].

Calibrating the Custom Color mode on the S3225QC further improves its color accuracy, bringing the grayscale error down to below 0.5dE. Similarly, the sRGB gamut in Creator mode has a 1.63dE error, suitable for color-critical applications that require sRGB [1].

The S3225QC's color accuracy in the Custom Color mode is exemplary, both by default and after calibration. Moreover, the monitor's gamma is textbook perfect with almost no deviation from the 2.2 reference, and it is ruler perfect, except for the lack of presets for those who want to change it [1].

In addition to its color excellence, the S3225QC supports 4K resolution, HDR10, and Dolby Vision, enhancing its color performance in HDR content. The screen excels for entertainment, gaming, and productivity due to its rich colors and contrast [1].

However, it should be noted that the monitor operates at only 120 Hz and does not offer gamma presets, which may be a drawback for some users [1].

In summary, the Dell S3225QC is a visually stunning 4K QD-OLED monitor that offers impressive grayscale accuracy, gamma performance, wide and saturated color gamut, and presumably high color volume. Its color accuracy is further improved through calibration, making it an excellent choice for color-critical applications and entertainment purposes alike [1].
