2026 Subaru Crosstrek Expands Lineup and Introduces New Hybrid Model

2026 Subaru Crosstrek: A Compelling Blend of Performance and Sustainability

The all-new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek is set to make a splash with its third-generation crossover, featuring enhanced electrification and a competitive pricing strategy. The Crosstrek lineup consists of seven trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Sport Hybrid, Limited, Limited Hybrid, and Wilderness.

Starting at an affordable $26,995, the base model of the Crosstrek comes equipped with a standard 2.5-liter engine producing 180 horsepower. As we move up the trim levels, new standard features include rear seat side airbags and Auto Vehicle Shut Down. Cloth seats with contrast stitching are standard on Sport models, while the Limited trim upgrades to perforated leather.

For those seeking a more fuel-efficient and powerful option, the new hybrid models of the Crosstrek, priced at $33,995 and $34,995, produce 194 horsepower - the most powerful in the Crosstrek lineup and about 12 horsepower more than the gasoline-only 2.5-liter engine model.

Compared to the regular gasoline-only Crosstrek models, the hybrid offers improved fuel efficiency with an estimated combined fuel economy of around 42 mpg, significantly better than the gasoline-only versions, which have lower mpg ratings around the mid to high 20s or low 30s range. Both hybrid and gasoline-only versions come with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and offer 8.7 inches of ground clearance, making both capable off-road.

The hybrid models also include a fully digital 12.3-inch gauge cluster and an upgraded 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration as standard. Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is standard across all hybrid trims, featuring improved detection capabilities for cyclists and pedestrians and additional assistive functions like Reverse Automatic Braking and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist. Interior enhancements include soft-touch surfaces and available heated seats.

The Crosstrek Wilderness, priced at $33,795, offers increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Option packages for the 2026 Crosstrek range from $1,600 to $2,270, adding features such as a 360-degree camera system, heated seats, moonroof, and advanced audio upgrades.

Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM are standard on Premium and higher trims, while a wireless phone charger is available starting with the Sport trim. Dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver's seats, LED fog lights, keyless access with push-button start, and raised roof rails are features available on higher trims. A heated steering wheel is now standard on Limited, Limited Hybrid, and Wilderness trims.

In summary, the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid offers a more powerful yet fuel-efficient powertrain, advanced digital interfaces, enhanced driver assistance technology, and the same all-wheel-drive capability and ground clearance as gasoline-only models, making it a compelling choice for drivers seeking both performance and sustainability. The well-equipped trims like the Sport Hybrid and Wilderness hover in the mid-$30,000 range before destination fees, providing an attractive option for environmentally-conscious consumers.
